Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Kalmar manufactures three types of noise damping laminates. Duru-LAM, Rub-LAM and Visco-LAM.
Duru-LAM and Rub-LAM are both laminates made of sheet metal vulcanized together with rubber. This material composite is unique due to our specialised, and globally patented, production process.
The sandwich construction acts as one homogenous material and it is virtually impossible to separate the layers. Visco-LAM is a laminate of sheet metal plates glued together with visco elastic material.
Duru-LAM stands for durability, rubber and laminate.
Our Duru-LAM is an excellent choice where sound and vibration damping is required, for example: valve covers, oil pans, transmission covers, holders, motor mounts, steering brackets, roof bows, door latches, brake covers, booster shells etc.
The laminate is made of two steel layers vulcanized together with a rubber layer in between. Our composite materials are acoustically dead in comparison to solid materials. Rub-LAM is a material with rubber laminated on one or two sides of a metal skin.
Rub-LAM is an excellent choice of material where sealing or sound- and vibration damping is required, for example: washers, holders, clamps, cealings, floors etc. Most types of metal or alloy can be used as well as most surface treated materials.
The thickness of the rubber and the metal skin can easily be changed according to the requirements for the application.
Laminated Visco-LAM is a material with built-in noise-damping qualities that can be suited to a wide variety of automotive and industrial applications.
Visco-LAM is a sandwich material with a core of viscoelastic polymer. The material performance can be optimized by changing the dynamic properties of the polymer.
Any type of metal or alloy can be used as well as most surface treated metals.
This sandwich provides an outstanding attention of structure-borne sound while also offering good airborne sound insulating capabilities.
Visco-LAM can be delivered in coils, sheets or slit strips of various dimensions. The material can be produced with a total thickness of 0.6-2.5 mm.
Damping properties vary with service temperature and vibration frequency. The choice of material for each specific application should be made according to these criteria and should also represent the best between stiffness, mass and damping.
